libarchive-ar-perl software package provides Perl interface for manipulating ar archives, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libarchive-ar-perl
libarchive-ar-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libarchive-ar-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libarchive-ar-perl *
You will get with libarchive-ar-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
